    Best deal on barbeque grills?

1274006288 Best deal on barbeque grills?I am in the market to buy a new grill. I am not sure yet if I want to get another charcoal grill or a propane grill. At any rate, where can I find the best deals on grills?

1273977489 Who do I call for service on an outdoor Roper gas grill? My husband & I bought a house that has a Roper natural gas grill installed in the cement pad out back. We noticed that the grill is missing a few parts, and I would like to have someone check out the grill and see if there is even a natural gas line running to the grill. if there is a line, I'd like the line capped off so that we can use the grill as a charcoal grill. I've searched for "Roper" grills online, and apparently it's a company that went out of business long ago, so I don't know who to contact to take a look at the grill and see what it would take to get working or how to get parts, so I just want the gas line capped (if it isn't already). What kind of contractor or service person would I call for this sort of thing?

Preheat a gas grill to 400° to 500°F or a charcoal grill until hot. Melt half of the butter with the olive oil in a cast-iron skillet on the grill. Add the onions, cover the skillet, and move it to a cooler zone to simmer for 15 minutes.

Uncover the skillet, move it to a medium-heat zone, and stir occasionally until the onions caramelize, about 20 minutes. Add the vermouth and garlic and continue heating until the liquid evaporates, stirring constantly for 10 to 15 minutes. Remove the onion mixture from the skillet and transfer it to a large bowl.

Clean the skillet; then spray the sides and bottom with nonstick cooking spray. Add the bread and stir well. Spread the onion mixture in the pan. Melt the remaining butter and pour it over the bread and onion mixture. Sprinkle the cheese on top.

In a medium bowl, beat the eggs slightly and add the half-and-half and salt and pepper. Pour this mixture over the bread, onion, and cheese mixture. use a spatula to lift the bread to make sure the liquid is infused throughout. place the skillet on the grill. using the indirect heat method, cook for 30 to 40 minutes, until puffed and golden brown. when the pudding is done, remove it from the grill, cut it into large triangles, and serve.

Note from Marty: when I cook the onions, 15 minutes is enough time. I never caramelize onions. I find the Emmenthaler will cancel any additional caramel flavor, but it might make a more dramatic presentation. "Live to BBQ! BBQ to Live!"

    Feelin' the heat

Whether you opt for the convenience of a gas grill, the smoky flavor of a charcoal grill or one of the multi-purpose egg-shaped ceramic cookers, one thing is true: Grilling season is in full swing.

According to a 2010 poll from the Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association, 74 percent of adults plan to enjoy grilled food at a friend of relative's house, 42 percent while picnicking, 39 percent while camping, and 20 percent while tailgating.

We're willing to bet Jackson residents fall right in step with those statistics.

Ben Conway, a Northeast Jackson resident and junior at St. Andrew's Episcopal School, likes to grill at the home of his grandparents, Sigrid and Jack Conway. He and his grandmother recently grilled steak, a salmon fillet and chicken kebobs on the gas grill on the back patio.

They've grilled the makings of many a meal on the 10-year-old grill, using a straightforward approach.

For many foods, they opt for a simple marinade of lemon juice, olive oil and a dash of mrs. Dash. They're careful to use one plate for raw foods and a clean plate for grilled foods to prevent cross contamination.

They find it handy to contain what they're grilling in a grill basket, which has a clasp to keep it shut and a handle.

"It makes it easy to turn over the food and it prevents any food from falling in the grill," Sigrid Conway said.

Also useful are tongs for turning meat and a timer that can be worn as a necklace.

"I start by setting it for five minutes and then I check what we're grilling to see if it's done or needs more time," Sigrid Conway said.

Sigrid Conway said it's a joy to grill with her grandson, Ben, and her granddaughter, Julia Conway, a sixth grader at St. Andrew's, because they quickly run into the kitchen and get what they need.

"They anticipate what we need next and go get it," she said.

Northeast Jackson resident Jesse Graham opts for the familiarity of a grilling classic: a black Weber kettle.

"I grew up grilling with my father, just as my son, Benjamin, has grown up grilling with me," he said.
