NEW Weber Q200/Q-200 Portable Gas Countertop BBQ Grill

I broke down and bought an electric smoker to BBQ stuff without having to deal with charcoal. It came with ceramic rocks, however I'm not sure if there are enough. they are really small (pee sized) and they are below the heating element in the pan. Should they be touching it? It heated up enough to cook the chicken in the expected time.

Also, I soaked hickory chips and put them in the rocks. however, I didn't get hardly any smoke from them. How can I get better smoke?

Any other suggestions?

this is an older recepie from their cookbook from the early 90's. This had shreaded cheese inside and on top, it didnt use BBQ sauce either

My parents are trying to convince me to take their old grill rather than buy a new one, however, they havent touched theirs in at least 10-15 years. Its been sitting outside (but under a grill cover) for the entire time as well. is it really safe to stilll use, if you get a new propane tank for it??

Can you still use an old gas BBQ grill if it hasnt been touched for over 15 years?
