Paula and the Canastota students will meet with Laurie Trotta on Tuesday, Nov. 17th at Morrisville to collect the trout eggs. DEC Permit info has been sent to Paula. please let me know if you are interested in accompanying Paula and the kids to Morrisville and participating in the egg collection.
Project Healing Waters – on October 17th, 2009 members from Madison County and Iroquois TU Chapters went to Carpenter’s Brook Fish Hatchery to meet and teach veterans fly tying and casting.
Working with DEC/Update – Chapter 680 members talked with NYSDEC personnel in Cortland including Jeff Robins regarding trout stocking next year for Chittenango and other local streams. Jeff said most stocking locations would remain the same as last year, but that DEC would consider adding some additional stocking locations to Canastota Creek. Jeff asked for recommendations from our chapter. John Patane will work with other Canastota TU members and make recommendations to Jeff and DEC. John Patane sent Jeff an email with four (4) additional stocking locations for Canastota Creek. John Rathbone will look into areas on Payne Brook that could also be recommended as possible DEC trout stocking locations for 2010 or 2011.
Great Swamp Conservancy – Boy Scout Jamboree – on October 10, 2009 seven (7) TU Chapter 680 members volunteered to teach fly tying and casting to approximately 125 Boy Scouts from the central NY area. The scouts were from different troops and age groups, but they all showed an interest in learning about fly tying, casting and fly fishing.

Ok, thank God that Officer and a Gentleman is more a classic than a chick flick and so we females can (or should) get away with watching that one. And I never saw the Bridges of Madison county because the book was too good to be rendered visually (with the correct ending). ]]>
