LOL!!! I”m hoping to avoid it at all costs. Even with the home day care and needing a 7 passenger vehicle. If you're after a 7 pass. then start looking at crossovers, but I don't think you guys need to make that leap quite yet!!
You should look at the Santa Fe, best safety ratings then any other mid-size SUV. Plus you could have 3 kids in the back and still have plenty of “trunk” space.

I recently purchased a Petitlapin baby crib and it was a very bad crib. Not only did it fail to meet a few basic crib safety regulations, it had a terrible smell that cause my wife and I to sleep in her Mom's house while we waited for the company to come a remove the crib. After talking to them, they told us they had no control over quality or paint and that it was all made in China. What a sham!

I agree with Barb. We order just about all consumables from Diapers.com. Best invention EVER. We use 7th generation diapers and California Baby soaps and diaper cream. It is very gentle on baby's skin. A sling is nice to have, too. I highly recommend a comfy rocker/glider for you to sit in while you nurse him. It is well worth the money. You will be in that chair a lot. Check out Britax car seats. They have great safety ratings and are the only seat tested for side impact ( I think). Don't get a cheap pack and play because the bassinet part will sag in the middle when you put baby down. We did that and didn't use it as much as we would have liked to. We had a bouncy seat – where Levi could lay down, be strapped in and safe. We used that all the time until he got too big. Greg and Alison gave that to us – it was called the Aquarium bouncer. There are tons on the market. Very fun!!! Did we mention diapers! Also, tons of burp cloths. These crazies spit up a lot!!! I have tons of clothes, etc. that I can send. Let me know. We are so excited about the baby!!! Love you!
I test drove a Fit before we got the Elantra Touring. Fit does have good safety ratings I think.

Esperanza, Ikea has some awesome stuff. Although it's cheap, I find that it's almost always well-made (if constructed properly), and the design is much more modern than most other places, especially baby stores. For me, that is reason enough to shop there, as my design aesthetic is very modern and clean-lined. At this point I'm no longer worried about something happening to the baby, so I don't really have any qualms about purchasing things like furniture. Obviously there is still a risk, and horrible things do happen, but I am letting myself fully expect to have a baby in August now that the statistically high danger zone has passed. Honestly, though, if you don't feel comfortable… don't do it! You really need very little for a newborn. A car seat and some blankets and diapers should do it
nutritionbyeve, I hear you! That would totally stress me out. I think creating the nursery is going to be incredibly relaxing for me. I would not be happy if I knew I had to do it in 2 weeks, along with the rest of my house. Good luck! If you have everything purchased, it shouldn't take long to set up.

Sarah, I totally agree — while part of me feel like I have it all planned out, I'm sure once I set it all up I will have little projects and accents I want to do here and there, and I'll totally have time to do it while I'm feeling huge and uncomfortable in June and July

Yes, I have done some reading on crib safety, especially that the bumper needs to be removed once the baby is old enough to roll around and grab it (since they could pull it down and suffocate themselves). I'm glad I read that before designing my crib bedding set, because I made sure to put the “pattern” that I'm basing the room off of on the skirt as well as the bumper, so that when the bumper is removed it's still visible. Great points, I'd be interested in seeing what other info I haven't read yet!]]>
