Can I use a pot or pan on a portable grill? I am looking for a new camping grill and am not sure what to buy

I had a standard Coleman gas one with a burner on one side and a grill on the other. it just broke so I need to buy a new stove and/or grill. if I buy a portable gas grill without a burner can I put a pot, pan or coffee percolator on it? Also, if I get one of these... Is it safe to use lava rocks or briquettes? Won't this help with heat distribution? So far the Weber Go-Anywhere Grill looks like something that might work but I am not sure about the above questions. Thanks a ton!

Hope you have fun at Arenal. I assume you are going to hike the national park and walk on the old lava flow. Which hotsprings are you going to go to? You have to go to one, so you better go.
Tabacon is the crem de la crem an close, otherwise I would recommend Termales del bosque which are in a beautiful natural setting by it is maybe a 15-20 minute drive outside La Fortuna. La Fortuna is nice for shopping a great little restaurants. There's a little icecream shop across from the main plaza/square.
Have you been told about purchasing the phone cards to call home? They are cheap and work on various phones like the ones in the square there.
Good little place to eat in La Fortuna is Lava Rocks

ahhhh, a grill…I think that's part of what was bothering me is that we've been exactly three months now without any of our things, including a gas grill for use in power outages such as these. I miss having a nice chair to sit on, a dining room table and my desk! Yesterday we were talking to Thom's parents on Skype and 1.13 minutes into the call, power outage. This time it only lasted about an hour. Hopefully our sea freight will be coming soon.
