Why have a Portable Gas Grill?

Portable gas grills are a good way to go for those people who like to travel, enjoy having a nice hot meal in the park, or who have a lot of activities to go to at which they can either spend a boatload of money to fill themselves up, or just cook their own food. Portable gas grills give you the option of having grilled food no matter where you go, and many of them work just like your everyday grills that can be seen in the back yard. The only really warning is that if you are expecting a number of people, you may want to be sure and pack some extra gas to power your grill with.

Portable grills are just a smaller sized grill that runs off of gas such as natural gas or propane. They still work like normal grills, and you still have to be sure that you have enough gas in them to get them good and hot for the food. If you are going to buy a portable one though, there are some things that you want to look at.

Portable Gas GrillThe first thing to look at would be BTU, or British Thermal Units. BTU is the measurement used to describe the amount of heat that is generated each hour, or the amount of heat needed to raise a pound of water by 1 degree Fahrenheit. Though using this measurement alone is really insufficient to tell how much heat a grill can generate, it’ll give you a general idea. Looking at the BTU you want to find that your grill reaches about 100 BTU per square inch, and that won’t necessarily be a high number for some of the smaller ones. Also keep in mind that this measurement gives you an approximate idea for fuel consumption. Generally speaking, the higher the BTU the faster you are going to go through your fuel, even with the portable ones. So, if your gas grill has a really high BTU you will definitely want to have access to extra fuel wherever you go.

Portable Gas GrillAnother thing for you to look at with gas grills is the type of fuel you want. Your choices are basically propane or natural gas. To help you decide this you will want to consider the availability. Most people use liquefied propane because it is widely available and not usually expensive, but natural gas is fairly available as well. It may however cost a little more to get natural gas because so many people opt for propane.

Finally, you will want to consider things like product's materials and cooking surfaces. Both of these really depends on what you would prefer, as well as what you are willing to spend. Generally speaking, the more you are willing to spend the higher quality materials you are likely to get, but as always there are exceptions to the rule, and you will want to do your research.
